Dean Merlino has an extensive career in music performance and composition, having given close to a thousand performances across Australia. He graduated from The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) majoring in classical flute performance and performed much of his flute repertoire in Perth and Melbourne. Not long after graduation, he began to expand his practice into numerous experimental, multi-arts and street theatre projects, including performances at Perth’s famous Artrage Festival, and at the Festival of Perth. Dean has performed and toured in a range of popular music styles including punk and hard rock, folk/acoustic and experimental. He has played at multiple music festivals, released several albums and had radio airplay in the UK, EU and USA.
Recently he has teamed up with New Zealand visual artist Emma Febvre-Richards (Massey University) to produce two multimedia works:
